What do you think of state sovereignity referenda in support of the 10th amendment?

It's about time someone reminded the federal government about the "reserved powers." Look at the state governments. What real purpose do they serve now? They are supposed to have separate powers not become DC-local. I think the Legislatures could regain their footing if the 17th Amendment were repealed allowing the state legislatures to chose the federal senators and giving them a national voice while restoring their importance to the voters.
